Translanguaging in English Language Teaching: Perceptions of Teachers and Students

The wide spread of English as the dominant language in higher education around world due to processes globalization and internationalization, opposed emerging trend for ‘nationalism’ or ‘de-globalization’, has recently led new interest role languages other than teaching learning processes. This article investigates beliefs attitudes Russian university students teachers concerning value instruction ELT explore their perceptions a monolingual university. participants this study were 581 two universities. research questions approached from quantitative perspective with analysis data obtained questionnaire. main statistically significant findings include following: ELT, supported by English-medium is high all groups respondents; translanguaging practices minimized use mother tongue are top priority both teachers; additional experience makes more committed intensive studies increases confidence ability non-language subjects English.
